From contract signings to project delivery, and from new clients to climbing the Three Peaks for charity, it’s been another busy and successful year for CCM. Jo Robinson, CCM PMO Service Manager, looks back on some of the highlights.
We’ve continued to grow our presence and our reputation at Heathrow. We started the year with only one member of staff on site, by the end of November the team had grown to forty-two PMs and project personnel. We’ve assisted Fujitsu winning and subsequently delivering against a Radio & Cellular contract at the airport.
We’ve strengthened our relationship with Fujitsu with a new contract and we’re now supporting Fujitsu projects in more areas with our specialist resources, supplementing Fujitsu’s in-house teams. We are proud to support Fujitsu with their work at Heathrow, which was recognised at the National IT Awards this year – winning Network and Infrastructure Project of the year for the new Terminal 2.
Indeed, Heathrow is now a 24 hour operation with teams deploying external and internal cabling throughout the day and night. A new highly effective delivery capability for the client.
We also have resources at Gatwick Airport, at Verizon and also at three top City law firms. We’re currently engaged on over 50 Legal sector projects and programmes extending our reputation as the sectors number one project delivery supplier. At Gatwick we look forward to more success supporting Gatwick’s airline moves campaign.
As our client base grows, so our internal processes need to mature and strengthen. This year we produced a new company vision, underpinned with our company values. These have helped consolidate and direct management thinking and planning and add direction to two key areas of focus, branding and marketing.
Alongside our process maturity work we needed a single IT platform to allow staff at our client sites to effectively communicate and collaborate. For these reasons we moved our core systems to O365 during the year, migrating all email and document information to the new platform.
Another notable achievement has been the completion of the CCM ATLAS process guides, following a sizeable collaborative exercise combining expertise from across the company and even support from some of our former colleagues. Atlas is a collation of our knowledge and experience gathered from running and supporting over two hundred IT projects. It is a series of guidelines and how-to documents than can support our staff and our clients across PMO, Portfolio, Programme and Project disciplines.
The quality of our people is something our clients often comment on and we have started work on a new recruiting process to help grow our talent pool further and respond to our client demands as quickly as we’re able to. We’ve commenced permanent staff recruitment at Heathrow, something which is hard to achieve in such a dynamic environment, and we look forward to growing on this start point in 2016.
Career progression is also important for us to ensure we’re getting the very best from our people. Supporting this we’ve promoted our first intern to a project management role this year, a transition which has been successful for us and for the client.
We have maintained strong ties with our contacts working in Dubai and we formalised this following on site discussions with a new trading agreement. This will aid our ability to operate in region and strengthens our links with our key strategic partner.
We’ve been busy out of the office too. We held our annual charity quiz night and completed the Three Peaks challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in, what turned out to be, just over 24 hours and raising over £4,000 for the British Heart Foundation and the Demelza Hospice for Children in the process.
Looking ahead? First and most importantly, we should all look ahead to a well deserved break with our families and loved ones. There’s plenty of challenges ahead in the New Year. We’re bidding for some exciting contracts and speaking to current and potential clients on how we can help them deliver their respective change programmes. We expect 2016 to be our busiest year yet!
Finally, on behalf of the CCM management team, I’d like to wish our clients, associates and our staff a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
